Millionaires Who Give Money Away, Billionaires Who Give Money Away: They Found the Joy of Giving

Oprah Winfrey who grew up without money ended up working hard to make her money. In the end, she wants to give back a huge chunk of it. She is giving most of her wealth through the three charities she runs: The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network and The Oprah Winfrey Operating Foundation. Oprah distributed more than $40 million to 40 organizations with a lot of focus on Africa. Oprah's Operating Foundation funded the Leadership Academy in South Africa. Oprah Winfrey gives money to both African Americans and caucasian families. She has a very soft spot for people. She also gives to State Universities such as Morehouse College. She also gives $5 million to Boys and Girls Club. Oprah gave $1 million to the Dream Academy a few years ago.

How about Bill and Melinda Gates? How do they give their money?

They give their money through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives.

In 2003, William Henry "Bill" Gates had already given whopping $28 Bn to eradicate polio. There is no doubt he is a rich man. But he is using his massive wealth to do good things around the world. "Bill is now engaged in the process of ridding himself of all that money in the hope of extending the lives of others less fortunate than himself." wrote the reporter. Later on, Bill Gates added the following: “I’m certainly well taken care of in terms of food and clothes,” he says, redundantly. “Money has no utility to me beyond a certain point. Its utility is entirely in building an organisation and getting the resources out to the poorest in the world.”
